Monitoring and conservation of plover populations

Global changes induced by humans have severe consequences on many wild organisms. Some species can deal with these changes better than others. Long-term monitoring of local and global populations is necessary to document the changes, make future predictions for survival and improve conservation management. Together with other scientists we set up and maintain shorebird monitoring projects at many different locations worldwide. We also provide expertise in field ecological methods genetic analyses and conservation of threatened and non-threatened shorebirds to train students and local biologists and increase capacity.
